100 Felt Hearts

I had to get someone early from school today because she wasn't feeling well. She seems fine to me now.

In an effort to avoid public TV for a bit, we spent a couple of hours cutting out 100 felt hearts for the 100th day of school.

After cutting them out, we sewed them all together to create a garland. This will serve two purposes, 100 items for the 100th day of school and decor for the Valentine's Day party!

Busy Bear

This is the bear that has been with us for the past few days. Busy bear is to attend all our happenings while we document them.
I do have to say, we're going to have to invent things to do so we have something to write about!




Tomorrow we will play tennis, go on a nature walk and bake some muffins.

5th Grade Graduate

Here Jonah is receiving his diploma and the Presidential Acedemic Award. This is the owner of the Round Rock Express.

Here he is receiving his Math Medal.

He's off to Middle School. Can't hardly believe it.

We have a Graduate!

She is not proud of herself at all.

The theme was Red, White and Blue, which she reminded me of this morning. That third child is so on top of things.

They sang "Deep in the Heart of Texas" for us and it was so darn cute.

I had no idea there were so many verses. I only remember the first one from Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. Can't believe my kids are becoming Texans. I am sure my Oregonian and Washingtonian parents are not happy about this development at all.

Also not only do the kids pledge allegiance to the flag of the USA they also pledge allegiance to the Texas flag. Every morning. I really don't remember pledging allegiance to the Oregon flag.

Here is the pledge:

Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible.

There you have it, preschool graduation of a Texan child.

Express Game

The 5th graders got to go watch an Express game today.

Freya and I had fun tagging along.

SOAR!

The big girl SOARed today!

She was so surprised to hear her name called.
The Personal Best Award was given to her.

Here is what the teacher had to say about her:

"This student is always showing her best! She has really worked hard to improve her writing. In math, she is taking her time and showing work on all her problems. She is also a fabulous reader and ALWAYS actively participates in class discussions. I am so proud of her!"

Lending a Helping Hand

Jonah is on the Student Council this year so he does a little extra around the school.

Field Trip

The other day we went on a field trip to learn about the history of our lovely city.

There were wagons, Indians and a big Round Rock!

He is so darn cute.

Building Blocks

Jonah and Freya are usually playing together or knocking heads against each other. They are so similar it is eerie.

In the spirit of their preschool, Jonah asked for the camera. So I handed it over. This was all done by the two of them.

They started with houses of cards.




Then they moved on to dominoes.






It is amazing to me how a 10 year old and a 4 year old can get together so well sometimes.

Other times, not so much...

Freya's first day of school

She picked out the outfit herself. She was still wearing the sparkly shades atop her head when I picked her up. She slept for an hour an a half after. She doesn't nap. She said they got to go into the "big gym" and play with rackets.







The teacher had doughnut holes for their breakfast when the arrived. I won't go into that right now, just know that she loves her teacher and had a fab first day.

First Day of School

Jonah and Chloe actually seemed happy to get out of bed at 6:30 this morning to get ready for school. Was it something I said? Probably.

Well, they don't look very enthused in this picture, but that is their way of being funny. Mocking me for taking their pictures on the first day of school. Ahhh, I have taught them well, my work here is done.

Chloe did not want me to take her picture at her desk, so her all-knowing teacher, suggested she take the picture with her. What do you know? perfect smile from Chloe.

After dropping off the big kids at school, Freya and I took Suki on a run. Freya's usual morning stint in the jog stroller is getting more and more difficult, she is getting heavy!

Then we ran a few more errands and ended up at Friar Tuck's Pantry. If you live in Round Rock and haven't been here, please check it out. Super great tea, fun English lunch and they have a toy area! They were so sweet and gave Freya a mini cup for her raspberry tea. She was such a doll, putting cream and sugar in there and then mixing it all up.

This is Freya grooving to the music they had playing here. She called it, "fancy music."

Field Day, Survivor Style

My kids go to such a great school. The PE department put on this field day last week. They did such a great job, the kids had tons of fun and the parents even got into some of the events.

The key to the success of this field day was; team work oriented challenges, a couple were water events, snacks and loud music. Sounds like a good time to me.

Carnival

The kids' school had a super fun Carnival last week. They played tons of little games, rode on many an inflated slide, ate hot dogs and they even sat on a fire truck.

I was shocked to see how much fun Jonah and his friends were having dancing to Camp Rock! I think they were surprised about that fact too.

By the end of the night, it was all Freya could do to keep her head up.
