I couldn't resist posting this picture. It's one happy girl at her end-of-season soccer party. I'm not sure if she's happy the season is over or if she's happy to be with her teammates.

Busy Bear

This is the bear that has been with us for the past few days. Busy bear is to attend all our happenings while we document them.
I do have to say, we're going to have to invent things to do so we have something to write about!




Tomorrow we will play tennis, go on a nature walk and bake some muffins.

Outdoor season is over for now. They start indoor next week. Can't wait as indoor is so much more exciting. It's faster, they get to take more shots and really anyone can win. Most parents go ballistic, me being one of them.

British Soccer Camp

My kids go to the uber-spendy and totally worth it British Soccer camp every year.

Not only is it well worth the bucks but they absorb innumerable skills from these imported soccer players.

The kids lavish in the soccer fever that these Britts emanate.

It is great fun and the kids always leave with that soccer fever/love...

Soccer Saturday

The weekends are usually spent watching someone play soccer or waiting for a game to start. But we have so much fun watching and playing it's one of our favorite past times.

Here is Jonah getting pushed around, it's serious business......he has a really strong kick and definitely enjoys playing offense.

And Chloe has become such a great defender this season. She is really good at keeping the ball out of the goal!

The games are always ended with a long parent tunnel. I think this is probably why half the girls play. TUNNEL!

I have a stress fracture....

How? I don't know, maybe my shoes were too tight and it couldn't handle running the 7 miles on Thursday. It was stressed even more the next day after pulling Freya behind my bike for who knows how long. Then I played an 80 minute soccer game on Sunday even though my foot hurt.

To add to that, I couldn't resist playing an indoor soccer game Tuesday. I told myself I would just go and watch the game, maybe play the first half. When I got there all the ladies were so happy because they only had 5 players for a 6v6 player game. I played the whole game with no break. Honestly, it's amazing this is the only thing hurting after all that.

I am sad as I am supposed to run a half marathon in November and I just joined a new indoor soccer team. Hopefully it will heal fast and I guess for now I will get my exercise in the pool, swimming boring old laps.

Hook 'em!

Yes, I said it. Next thing you know I'll be wearing the burnt orange and saying Y'all along with it.

We went to the Woman's soccer game, Longhorns vs. Aggies. It was exciting to say the least, well of what I was able to watch of the game. Between getting popcorn and making sure all the kids were staying close I watched a bit of the game.

Some of the girl scouts in Chloe's troop came along. They all earned a great burnt orange patch with a long horn on it. Perfect addition to the brownie vest! I think the girls were inspired as they were being a bit more aggressive at today's game.

We saw the cheer leaders and the long horn. It was so fun to see so much team spirit!

I was "this close" to getting a burnt orange soccer shirt but I just wasn't ready for that leap in my life yet. That would mean I was fully crossing over to the burnt orange atmosphere. I still get excited when I see someone wearing a yellow and green DUCKS shirt. Surprisingly I see quite a few of them around the Austin area, I always yell, "Go Ducks!" when I see one.

For now, get your pinky and pointer out, make those horns and yell, "Hook 'em!"

We had a great soccer weekend!

Chloe had her first goal this Saturday! I can't believe I missed it. I was at a conference and not only did I miss her first goal EVER but she scored twice! Talk about making a mom feel the guilt.

Jonah had a game on Sunday and made 3 goals. He was great and really worked well with the team. After he made 2 goals, he was kind of hanging back and not pushing up. When he was subbing out he told me that he wanted to give some of the other kids a chance to score. How sweet is that?

Oh Yeah, it's Soccer Time again.

Time to get up at the crack of dawn and stuff the kid's feet into those super tight shin guards and socks, then try to get the whole monstrosity into stiff leather cleats.

Chloe seems to have fun but who knows as anything that takes effort doesn't seem like fun for her. Especially since it starts before she is usually out of bed in the morning.

Jonah really puts in the effort, I worry about him keeling over from heat stroke because he plays for most of the game. Amazingly he is totally fine and gets pretty mad at me if I suggest he take a break. Seriously, a mom knows nothing more than a 9 year old boy.

Today we also went downtown and visited a ballet studio. The girls had some fun trying out some classes as well as rubbing elbows with part of the cast from the Nutcracker. We also had a chance to see a snippet of Not Afraid of the Dark. The dancers were all in black costumes except for certain parts of their costumes which were illuminated by a black light. It looks pretty good and we may go and see the full production some time. Freya was able to get out on stage for the first part of the performance. By the way, Freya doesn't like to be in the spot light at all, can't you tell??
